Benzalkonium chloride is a quaternary ammonium compound that can be sourced from methylating primary amine from a fatty acid. Benzalkonium chloride has anti-fungal, anti-microbial properties against bacteria, fungi and viruses. It is also used an antimicrobial preservative for pharmaceutical products.
